I received my small kneeboard today and my first impressions are that it is a great product. The leg strap is comfortably wide and the clip seems very sturdy. The zipper pocket on the side is quite handy for holding a pen, paper, and even a cell phone. The size is perfect for holding the iPad Mini. The corner straps have been redesigned so as to not block (as much of) the corners of the iPad screen. Unfortunately, the clock (upper left corner) isn’t completely visible under the strap. If this isn’t a big deal for you then you’ll love this kneeboard.
I only have 2 issues with the design. The first (and by far the more minor of the two) is the aforementioned clip. As I said, it SEEMS very sturdy… but its stiffness may be its downfall. The thin prongs of the clip may break if handled roughly or if squeezed too hard with releasing the clip. (I’ve had similar clips break on backpacks that I’ve owned). Treat it with respect and it should work fine.
My major problem with this kneeboard (and I’ll freely admit, this is a personal preference) is the angle at which the board holds the iPad. I prefer my iPad held at an angle with the top tilted up and the bottom closer to my leg. This has always helped counteract glare in the cockpit. This board holds the iPad flat on top of your leg without having it at an angle. If this doesn’t bother you, then this is the kneeboard for you!
Solid workmanship. Nice design. The only thing that I don’t care for about it is admittedly one of personal preference.
